Splashed by DKG was founded in 2013 by Daniel K. Grier.
Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Daniel began his career in his mother’s garage in 2013 by transforming plain denim garments into one of a kind statement pieces. The process, now known as “splashing” quickly became popular in Birmingham and surrounding areas. Though the method has become more refined over time, each Splashed by DKG garment is still done by hand and is therefore unique in its own right.
Splashed by DKG began as a project to reinvent classic denim pieces by adding its signature Splash. As the brand became increasingly popular, Daniel received his first Fashion week invitation. In an effort to create more high fashion pieces using Splashed denim, Daniel partnered with emerging designer and fellow Birmingham native, Derek Matthews. After a very successful presentation during Alabama International Fashion week, both designers realized they were on to something. In 2014, Daniel and Derek formally partnered and used their combined talents and passion for fashion to take the brand to the next level. Splashed by DKG quickly moved from offering only custom pieces to producing ready to wear collections.
Since its debut, Splashed by DKG has been featured in press such as Kontrol Mag, Sheen Mag, IPush Mag, Imperial Mag, KontrolGirl.com, al.com, The Daily Beacon, and many others. The brand has presented in several fashion weeks and countless shows throughout the Southeast. Splashed by DKG has also been featured on “WEtv’s Cutting in the ATL,” and celebrities such as actress Jasmine Burke, singers Mishon and Bahja Rodriguez, and reality star Judi Jackson.
