Founder & Chief Creative, Daniel Grier

Daniel Grier is an American fashion designer and artist, originally from Birmingham, Alabama, and the founder & Chief Creative of Splashed by DKG. His work is rooted in emotional storytelling, transformation, and a commitment to creating space for individuality through design.

Raised in Gardendale, Alabama, Grier’s perspective is shaped by his Southern upbringing, personal adversity, and the experience of building a creative path without access to traditional fashion systems. He attended University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Community Health Education—an experience that continues to inform his understanding of people, access, and systems.

In 2013, while still in college, Grier launched Splashed by DKG, building the brand independently while navigating early fatherhood. His work transforms repurposed materials into expressive, one-of-one garments that challenge conventional ideas of luxury and identity.

Over the past 12 years, Grier has developed a recognizable voice within fashion, with designs worn by artists including Anuel, Prince Royce, Tamar Braxton, and Syleena Johnson. He gained national recognition as a competitor on Upcycle Nation, where he competed among top designers across the United States. He has also appeared on All the Queen's Men, and has been featured in broadcast and public media, including a PBS Monograph episode, along with ongoing news coverage highlighting his advocacy work.

In 2017, Grier founded Magic City Fashion Week, a platform designed to expand access for emerging designers, particularly in the South. Through this work, he has helped designers gain national visibility, provided opportunities to present on larger stages, and awarded financial support to selected designers—while also connecting talent to broader industry networks, including initiatives with the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Guided by his mantra “Believe in Your Legendary,” Grier approaches fashion as a tool for transformation—empowering individuals to be seen, take up space, and define themselves on their own terms. His work continues to evolve through a focus on sustainability, adaptive design, and cultural impact.

Outside of his work, Grier is the proud father of his 17-year-old son, Aedan, and shares life with his shorkie, Gigi.
